Sephiria Grimoire Guide

Grimoires are active spellbook items: put one in your inventory, assign its action to a quick slot, and spend MP to cast it. They are not the Staff weapon, and their casts use Grimoire-specific damage, haste and MP-cost modifiers.

Quick answer

A Grimoire is a castable spellbook, not a passive stat card

Grimoire items add an active spell to your controls. Keep the book in the inventory, use its assigned quick-slot input, and pay the listed MP cost to cast it. Damage, cooldown and cost are separate levers, so a high-damage spell still needs enough MP and a usable recharge rhythm.

How to recognize and cast a Grimoire

01

Identify the book

Read the item tags and active description. Player reports identify these spellbook items with the Grimoire tag rather than by one shared item name.

02

Keep it in inventory

A Grimoire occupies inventory space like other run items, but its main value is an action you trigger instead of a purely passive bonus.

03

Use its quick slot

Cast with the quick-slot input shown by the game. Check your control binding instead of assuming another player’s keyboard number matches yours.

04

Budget MP and cooldown

The spell cannot carry a build if its MP cost drains the resource needed for defense or weapon skills. Test the full rotation, not one cast.

Build vocabulary

Read Grimoire Damage, Haste and MP cost separately

Grimoire Damage

Scales the output of Grimoire casts, not every magic-looking attack.

TEAM HORAY’s Academy Fountain Pen record explicitly converts Evasion into increased Grimoire Damage.

Grimoire Haste

Improves how quickly a Grimoire becomes available again.

Version 0.12.0 added a UI readout for the cooldown reduction supplied by Grimoire Haste.

Grimoire MP cost

Controls how much MP a cast consumes; it does not make the spell recharge faster.

Rylie’s Pocket Watch received an MP-cost reduction effect, while Tome of Mimicry’s Duplicate cost was reduced from 10 to 6.

Nothing has dropped?

Check permanent unlocks before blaming luck

If Grimoire-related bonuses appear but no spellbook does, inspect Destiny Inscription and the unlocked item pool. Multiple current-player reports point to permanent progression as the reason new saves can go many runs without seeing a Grimoire. Official updates also record newly added Grimoires, which means the available pool can change with unlocks and patches.

This is the useful distinction: the official notes confirm the system, named Grimoire interactions and patch changes; the reviewed player thread supplies the practical “why have I never seen one?” diagnosis. It does not establish one universal node name or guarantee the next drop.

Do not mix the systems

Staff and Grimoire are related, but they are not the same thing

Staff is one of Sephiria’s six weapon branches. A Grimoire is an active spellbook item with its own cast, MP cost and cooldown. Some Staff upgrades and magic-facing Artifacts interact with Grimoires, but a shared theme does not turn every Staff attack into Grimoire damage. Read the exact trigger before combining a weapon bonus with a spellbook stat.

“Demonic Grimoire” is a named miniboss in the Version 1.0.33 patch notes, not a spellbook the player equips. Keep that boss record separate when searching for Grimoire items or unlocks.

Grimoire-related Artifact records

These cards have an official record that explicitly mentions a Grimoire stat or interaction. Open the item before using an old patch value as a current build recommendation.
