Player question
Where are the secret rooms in Sephiria, and how do you find them?
Normal Sephiria secret rooms are hidden behind breakable wall sections rather than fixed map coordinates. Clear the room, inspect the wall face and especially its upper decorative border, then attack a suspicious crack or broken pattern several times. Community reports say a room above can mark both the wall face and top border, while rooms to the left, right or below may show the difference only along the top border. Listen for hit feedback and recheck passages even when the map draws no connecting line.
Quick wall scan
Clear the room. Scan the upper edge. Test the mismatch.
01 · Clear
Finish combat first so effects and stray projectiles cannot hide a wall change.
02 · Scan
Compare the wall face and its full upper border for a broken repeat or crack.
03 · Test
Strike the suspicious section several times and inspect the opening even without a map line.
01Use a clear, scan, compare, test routine
Finish combat before searching. Projectiles, explosions and scenery make the small pattern change harder to see, and a stray attack may already have opened the route. Walk the whole perimeter only after the room is calm, compare repeated wall decorations, and test the section where a line, cap stone or crack stops matching its neighbors.
Stand close and attack the suspicious section more than once. A May 2025 Steam discussion reports that some weapons need several hits before the useful impact sound or wall response becomes obvious. If the pattern still looks wrong, shift slightly along the same edge before rejecting it; do not assume one silent swing proves the wall is solid.
- Clear: remove combat noise and check whether a projectile already opened a passage.
- Scan: inspect the wall face, then the complete upper border of every wall segment.
- Compare: look for a broken repeat, misplaced crack tile or visible room beyond the edge.
- Test: stand close, strike several times and listen for different impact feedback.
- Confirm: inspect the opening itself even if the minimap does not draw a corridor line.
02Read the crack differently by direction
The most useful directional clue comes from the answer selected in the player’s April 2025 Steam thread. When the hidden room is above the current room, the crack can affect both the visible wall face and its upper border. When the destination is left, right or below, the only clear mismatch may be on the upper border of that wall tile.
Treat empty neighboring space and visible scenery beyond a wall as priorities, not guarantees. Procedural layouts mean a screenshot teaches a wall pattern, not a permanent coordinate. This is why a reusable direction checklist is more reliable than copying a floor map from one run.
- Room above: compare the wall face and the decorative border above it.
- Room left or right: follow the top edge of the side wall for a broken pattern.
- Room below: inspect the upper rim of the lower wall instead of staring only at its center.
- Unclear direction: prioritize suspicious adjacency, then test the full segment at close range.
03Know what Steam and TEAM HORAY actually confirm
Steam’s official achievement data includes Traveler with the requirement “Find a hidden room.” TEAM HORAY’s own patch history also confirms the mechanic repeatedly: Version 0.7.8 fixed passages that failed to break at zero damage, 0.7.12 improved Woodlands crack visibility, and 0.7.29 corrected misplaced crack tiles before 0.7.30 temporarily disabled Grassland crack generation during a crash workaround.
Version 0.8.8 later fixed certain Rooted Cave rooms whose secret entrances could not be entered. These first-party records establish that breakable passages, visible crack tiles and biome-specific entrance bugs are real. They do not publish a fixed location list, reward probability, guaranteed number per floor or current damage requirement.
- Officially confirmed: hidden rooms exist and unlock the Traveler achievement.
- Officially confirmed: passages can be broken and cracks have received visibility and placement fixes.
- Not officially published: a fixed per-floor count, per-run cap or spawn percentage.
- Not officially published: a current guaranteed reward table or exact drop rates.
04Separate normal secret rooms from other hidden spaces
A normal secret room uses a suspicious wall section and an attack-to-open sequence. The lore room after Mad Scientist Erma is a different community-documented case: after the fight, cross the bridge into the room with the table and walk through the wall immediately to the table’s left. Reports describe no visible crack and no attack requirement, so do not use that route to learn the normal wall tell.
The Pocket Dimension is also a separate rare event rather than an ordinary cracked-wall room. Keeping these categories apart prevents three different search intents from becoming one misleading spawn rule: repeatable crack recognition, a specific lore passage and a rare event encounter.
- Normal hidden room: pattern mismatch or crack, then attack the passage.
- Post-Erma lore room: community route report; walk through an unmarked wall beside the table.
- Pocket Dimension: separate event; do not count it when discussing cracked-wall rooms.
05Do not turn community observations into spawn rules
Community posts mention possible rewards such as currency, rerolls, experience and consumables. Those reports are useful for deciding whether to look, but no reviewed official source provides a current reward pool or probability. Present each as a possible observation, never as a guaranteed bundle or a reason to promise a Legendary item.
The same caution applies to claims such as “one room per layer,” “only enemy rooms can connect,” or “one or two per run.” The supplied Steam thread contains individual testing hypotheses, not a controlled sample or developer statement. A recent reply also says prison cells seen inside some secret rooms cannot be opened and contain nothing; treat that as community-only status that may change, not a permanent mechanic.
- Safe claim: rewards can vary and older community reports list several economy or consumable outcomes.
- Unsafe claim: every floor contains one room, or every room has the same reward bundle.
- Safe claim: prison cells currently have no community-documented opening method.
- Unsafe claim: the cells can never change or are officially confirmed as decorative.
06Use an accessibility-friendly search method
If the cracks are difficult to see, rely on redundancy rather than pixel-perfect vision. Turn down distracting combat effects when possible, finish the encounter, compare the repeated top-border pattern at close range, and use a short attack test on suspicious edges. The hit response and the physical opening are independent confirmation channels when the visual tell is subtle.
In co-op, call the wall before everyone exits and assign one player to each side instead of having the party scatter. After opening a route, name the direction in chat or voice because the minimap may show the room without an obvious connecting line. This makes the process faster and helps players who did not see the original crack.
07Record discoveries so the guide can improve
For a useful report, capture the current game version, chapter or biome, room type, suspected direction, wall before opening and the same view afterward. Note whether enemies were active, which attack opened it, whether the minimap drew a connection, and what appeared inside. An uncropped before-and-after pair is more valuable than a reward screenshot alone.
Repeat observations before inferring a rule. Procedural generation can make one route look universal when it is only one seed. Send reproducible findings to [email protected]; confirmed current-version behavior will be separated from historical patch notes and community-only hypotheses.
